The Board of the NJCA announces
Call for Papers/Panel Proposals for the 2014 Conference
“Connecting the Classroom to Communication Careers”
April 12, 2014 Kean University
The New Jersey Communication Association invites complete papers, media presentations, and panel proposals from students, scholars, faculty and practitioners related to the conference theme “Connecting the Classroom to Communication Careers”. The scope and depth of communication as a discipline has often been misunderstood in the professional community. At the same time the tools used by practitioners of communication have rapidly evolved. Students of communication need to learn creative ways to connect to careers. The recent recession has created additional challenges. The purpose of the conference is to encourage students of communication to take pride in their identity as professionals and offer insights to faculty on how careers can be identified and promoted in the classroom. Insights will be shared on how our discipline helps to shape communication professionals for a new age of communication.
The NJCA annual conference provides teachers, scholars, students, administrators, and communication professionals a forum to exchange ideas, information and research. Submissions may include extended abstracts of works in progress, full-length papers of 25 pages or less, panels, workshop ideas or other collaborative opportunities. We strongly encourage the participation and contribution of students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. An award for the best student paper at each level will be presented at the conference. Professionals are invited to attend to discuss their journeys as communicators.
*Please include the following information in your e-mail and on the front page of your submission: name(s) of presenters, title of paper/panel, abstract, 3-5 keywords/phrases, student status if relevant (graduate or undergraduate), school affiliation and department, address, phone number and email. In addition, a statement of professional responsibility should be included on the cover or title page and should state the following: “In submitting the attached panel/paper proposal, I/we agree to present at the 2014 NJCA conference if it is accepted. I/we further recognize that all who attend and present at NJCA must register and pay the required fees.”
Submissions must be sent by February 1, 2014 to Dr. Christopher Lynch (1st Vice president of NJCA) at clynch@kean.edu
